WCW Monday Nitro (July 10, 2006)

WCW Monday Nitro
July 10, 2006
San Antonio, TX
Freeman Coliseum

We see a video clip with several non-spoiler highlights of last night's Beach Blast PPV from San Diego, CA.  It ends with Nick Hogan stunning his father and hugging Eric Bischoff - plus shots of Gangrel's head being ripped apart, Team Elementalz celebrating their victories and Puder making Goldberg tap.  The final shot is Sean O'Haire retainng the WCW World Title...

Pyro and fireworks explode as WCW Monday Nitro comes on the air. We are welcomed by Tony Schiavone, Larry Zbyszko & Diamond Dallas Page at ringside.  It's a big show - so much excitement last night at Beach Blast went down and who onows what will happen next...

Music hits and the sounds of boos and jeers fill the arena as WCW Owner Eric Bischoff comes to the ring.  He is all smiles and full of himself as he has a big annnouncement. Starting this Thursday, it's the return of the other WCW Brand Program, "WCW Thunder".  If the other guys can run two shows weekly on prime-time TV, why can't WCW?  Eric said when he bought the company that WCW was going to be bigger and better than ever before and this is just another step.

And now, Eric has something else to address - last night's match with the Giant versus Hogan.  We watch the clips as we see Hogan making the comeback after taking a huge beating from The Giant, Paul Wight.  Then Nick Hogan interferes with a taser, of all things and violently shocks his father with several thousand volts.  Giant takes advantage and chokeslams Hogan, thus getting the victory and putting Nick Hogan into the custody of Eric Bischoff for 30 days.

We cut back to Eric and he's all smiles.  He wants to introduce his "son" - Nick Hogan.  Nick comes out and he's dressed exactly like Eric - jeans, t-shirt, leather jacket - Nick is a mini-me Bischoff.  The two hug and Nick gets the mic.  The question is, "Why Nick, why?"  Nick explains that he didn't turn on his father because he hates him.  He loves hs dad and family - but he did what he had to do to be his own man and get some respect.  At his home, everything is about Brooke and her singing career.  The TV show - about Brooke!  The trips to LA - for Brooke.  It's all Brooke!  What about Nick?  For years, his dad ignored him - it was all wrestling and then all Brooke - and Nick finally realized he had to do something drastic.  The only man who ever paid him any attention and had time for Nick was his dad's friend, Eric Bischoff.  When they began to have a falling out, Nick had a plan.  He went to Eric with the plan and here we are now - If Terry and Linda are all about Brooke, so be it!  Nick is with someone who will look out for him and think about him - he's with Eric Bischoff... or should he say, "Dad!"..  As Bischoff and Nick embrace in a nice little father - son hug, we  cut backstage and see Hulk & Linda Hogan watching the moniter and listening to what Nick has to say.  Tears are in Hulk's eyes as he says, "Let's get out of here!".. Linda tells Hulk to put a stop to this - go get Nick now... Hulk says he can't - Nick made his own decision - he's his own man now!  Linda doesn't like it, but hugs Hulk.  We see a close-up of Hogan's eyes and a tear is falling.

We come back and cut to the back.  Hulk & Linda Hogan are leaving the arena and preparing to climb into their limo when they're approached backstage by "The Giant" Paul Wight and Joel Gertner.  Giant laughs at Hogan and says that "you win some - you lose some - no hard feelings, right?".... Hogan glares at Giant.  Gertner adds that maybe Brooke will wise up and be the next to come over to Team Bischoff.  Gertner then says that he'd like to welcome her personally...and licks his lips.  Hogan lunges at Gertner, but Linda grabs him - "Not now.....let's go!"  Hogan just glares at Gertner and the Giant as he allows Linda to force him into the limo and the limo pulls off.  Gertner and Giant share a huge laugh..

We go back to ringside where Tony, Zbyszko and DDP talk about what has happened thus far.  We then cut to a video package highlighting all of the action that's taken place over the past few weeks in the WCW World Television Championship Tournament.  Tonight, it's the finals of the tournament as a new WCW TV Champion is preparing to be crowned.

We go to David Penzer...

WCW TV TITLE TOURNAMENT - THE FINALS
RICO w/ soce the elemental wizard versus Evan Karagias w/ Jimmy Valiant

Valiant and Soce are immediately exchanging words on the outside of the ring, although Soce is careful not to get too close to the "Boogie Woogie Man" and continues the barrage of insults from a good distance away.  In the ring, Karagias and Rico are exchanging armdrags and hiptosses - neither man wants to make a mistake for the other to capitalize on.  DDP is still  at the announce table and he brings up that Valiant nailed him with a cheap shot on the Main Event last night and he "owes" Valiant.  Karagias has taken the advantage with a neckbreaker and several dropkicks.  Karagias gets two, but Rico manages to get the foot on the ropes to break the pin attempt.  Rico fights back with elbows and several kicks, but we see Karagias score with a Thesz press for another two.  Valiant and Page are now exchanging words more and more frequently on the outside of the ring.  Rico rips at the eyes of Karagias and catches Evan with a knee to the gut.  He attempts a backdrop, but Evan scores with the kick.  Spinkick by Karagias and he goes up to the top for a missle dropkick.  Valiant and DDP are at the far side of the ring exchanging insults and no one notices Soce climb up and grab Karagias's ankle, causing him to fall to the mat.  Valiant notices at the last second, but is over too slowly to do anything about it.  Rico scores with a superkick and a very intimate sunset flip and referee Brent Robinson makes the three count.
Winner and NEW WCW TV CHAMPION:  RICO w/ soce the elemental wizard

Soce is quickly into the ring, snatching the TV Title Belt from the ring announcer, Dave Penzer and presents it to Rico with a big hug.  Karagias is on his knees and looks very upset - he complains to the referee and then to his manager, Valiant.  "Where were you?"  As Rico and Soce head to the back to celebrate, Valiant tries to explain to Karagias that he was arguing with DDP at ringside. Karagias just says that Valiant needs to decide if he's going to be Karagias's manager or "argue with DDP".. and storms off... Valiant just watches him leave and thn gets the mic.  "Hey, DDP - you want to trade insults - you want to cause problems for the Boogie Man?  Get your ass in this ring right now and the Boogie Man is gonna kick your ass!"..   DDP stands up at the announce position - and says that if Valiant wants a match - he's got it!  Right now!  DDP removes his shirt as we go to commercial..

(commerical)

DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE versus "THE BOOGIE WOOGIE MAN" JIMMY VALIANT
Valiant is all over Page in the beginning with fists and kicks and a big slam.  Te Boogie-Man is dancing and strutting and plays to the fans for a moment and walks right into a Diamond Cutter by Page.  Quick cover and it's over....
Winner:  DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE

Backstage, we see Terri Runnels with "The Total Package" Lex Luger.  Lex is estatic about his performance last night at the Beach Blast PPV.  He didn't win the title, but he proved to everyone that "The Total Package" was back and as good as ever.  He expects to get a rematch soon enough and when he does, the WCW World Championship is coming home with him.  Tully Blancard and Woman walk up and approach Lex.  They want to talk to Lex in private if he doesn't mind - it's a business proposition.  Lex seems intrigued and says let's go talk.

Backstage in Eric Bischoff's office, we see Eric and Nick Hogan playing on the X-Box and sharing some quality time as "father and son".. Brock Lesnar walks into the office.  He asks if Eric saw what he did to Gangrel last night... 26 stitches.. Eric saw and he was impressed.  Eric asks how Sable is doing?  Brock says she's fine - just a little bruised up - she'll be here next week.  But the reason Brock is here is that he wants a shot at the WCW World Championship against Sean O'Haire.  He's on a roll and deserves a title shot.  Eric agrees that Brock is on a roll and says that he'll get a title shot eventually.  But did Brock forget that just a few weeks ago, Brock's wife, Sable, slapped Eric across the face on national television?  Eric didn't forget.  But Brock will get a title shot against O'Haire.. if he can win his match in the main event on Thunder this coming Thursday night. Brock says he'll beat anyone that Eric puts against him.  Eric smiles and says Brock will be facing "The Giant" Paul Wight... Brock isn't smiling now!  Eric tells Brock to leave now - he has to spend some quality time with his "son".. Eric resumes playing the X-Box with Nick as Brock leaves the room.

We cut to the audience and see a disruption in the crowd as Amy Dumas and Adam Copeland have entered the arena and are working their way down to two reserved seats at ringside.  They're holding their tickets in their hands and are all smiles as they take their seats.

A video promo airs - comng on August 6th from the Sturgis Bike Rally in Sturgis, SD - it's WCW Road Wild - on PPV...

Backstage, Ivory and Juventud Guerrera are hanging out and talking. Ivory is working out and warming up for her match later against Christy Hemme while Juvi is watching lustily and enjoying the view.  Ivory tells Juvi that after she gets done trashing Hemme, they can head back to the bar and party.  Juvi holds up a tequilia bottle and says he's already started.  Colt Cabana walks into the scene.  He compliments Ivory on her warm-up routine and wants to know when Juvi is going to put his Cruiserweight Championship belt up against him.  Juvi says how about next week.  Colt says thats way cool and he'll see him next week.  Juvi says that there's no need to run off - Colt can come with them back to the bar after the show and party - if he can hang.  Colt just laughs and says - oh yeah - he can hang!  Ivory laughs at the two men and says she'll be back in a little while - she has to go get ready for her match.. Ivory walks off as Juvi offers Colt a drink from the bottle of tequilia...

We go to video from last night at Beach Blast and listen to Disco Inferno and Ernest "The Cat" Miller trade insults as both men are assisting on commentary.  We hear the challnge made for a "Dance Contest" tonight on Nitro...

We go back to the ring and Rich Landrum is standing in the middle of the ring.  It's time for the "Dance Contest"...  Both men will have two minutes to dance and the fans will vote for the winner by their applause...

DANCE CONTEST
ERNEST "THE CAT" MILLER versus DISCO INFERNO

Disco gets on the mic first and tells the people that he's going to give them exactly what they want - a chance to see the Disco Inferno dance.  He tells Miller that he might as well leave now and go call his mama or something because no one dances better than the Disco Inferno.  Miller tells Disco to "shut up and dance, fool!"

Disco dances first and does his usual hip-gyrating 1975 move-step as his music plays.  It's John Travolta meets The Village People as Disco is shaking his booty and the fans are loudly booing his dancing skills.  Finally he stops and scowls at the ringside fans.  Miller is laughing and asks if Disco learned those moves by watching old New Kids on the Block videos or something.

Ernest is up next and the sounds of James Brown echo throughout the arena as "The Cat" is all over the ring and dancing the night away.  He finishes his set to a roar of applause from the capacity crowd.  We even get a shot of Adam Copeland and Amy Dumas applauding at ringside.

Landrum asks the fans to vote by their cheers for who won the dance contest.  First Landrum introduces Disco, who gets a lot of boos and jeers for his efforts. Then, "The Cat"... and the applause is obvious - Miller wins.
Winner:  ERNEST "THE CAT" MILLER

As Disco complains to Landrum about a 'biased announcer", the Cat says to 'hit my music" and he's ready to dance again.  Music hits, but it's not "The Cat's" music - it's the music of Antonio and Romeo - The Heart Throbs.  Antonio and Romeo get on the mic and start insulting the dancing skills of both MIller and Disco - they don't know how to dance - they just made colossal fools of themselves. Disco gets the mic - "if the Heart Throbs are such great dancers, then prove it!  Dance!"  Antonio and Romeo look at each other and their music hits as they start to do some God-awful gyrating and moves that make Disco look like Fred Astaire.  Disco and Miller watch this for a moment and then move as one - Miller nails Romeo with the feliner as Disco clocks Antonio with the chart-buster.  The Heart Throbs are tossed from the ring by Miller and Disco and music hits - we see both Disco Inferno and Ernest "The Cat" Miller dance as we go to commercial.

We go to Schiavone and Zbyszko at ringside. They warn us that the footage they're fixing to show is very graphic.  We see Daniel Puder come down the ramp and out to ringside as the crowd erupts in boos.  Puder explains that he knows they're fixing to show the resutls of his MMA match against Goldberg last night and he wanted to help on the commentary to make sure they understand what was going on.

We see a video package of the MMA/ UFC fight last night at the PPV pitting Bill Goldberg versus Daniel Puder.  Puder notes that the referee was Dan Severn and he was there to make sure everything went strictly by the book.  The judges were UFC President Dana White, Ken Shamrock and Randy Coture.  Daniel is very complimentary of Goldberg as he talks about how strong Bill is and in the first few minutes, Bill tried to secure a hold on him and if it had worked, the results might have been different.  Goldberg did manage to break Puder's nose with some elbow shots and Daniel had to get some stitches above his eye.  Daniel tries to go behind and secure a rear choke, but Goldberg is just too strong and knew to counter and protect against this.  But Goldberg made a mistake and Puder was able to secure the arm and lock in the kimura or keylock as it's better known.  Once Puder got it locked in, he knew it was just a matter of time.  We see Goldberg resist and finally tap, but the damage has been done.  Puder mentions that Goldberg had more surgery this morning to repair damage to the arm and will be out of action for several months at least.  Zbyszko asks if Puder is proud of himself, and Puder says no - he did what he had to do to win... but he has a lot of respect for Goldberg and says he's a tough guy!  Puder looks forward to when Goldberg returns and hopefully they can put this behind them and  maybe team up.  Puder calls Goldberg one of the toughest S.O.B's he's ever competed against and says thatgiven another opportunity, things might have been different.  Schiavone asks what's next for Puder now that Goldberg is out of the way... Daniel says he will wrestle and compete for titles and protect Soce - his manager - that's his primary job because no one messes with Soce.

We go backstage and WCW World Champion Sean O'Haire, along with Dawn Marie is standing by with Bob Caudle.  O'Haire talks about the title and how he's made it through every match the WCW has thrown against him and he's still the champion.  Lex and Booker were tough, but in the end,he's still the champion.  Booker T walks up, along with Sharmell.  Booker says that O'Haire got lucky - nothing more.  Booker wants a rematch for the title and he wants it soon.  O'Haire says that Booker will get his rematch soon enough. Sharmell interupts and she wants a piece of that trash, Dawn Marie.  O'Haire holds Dawn back and says to careful what you wish for.  How about O'Haire and Dawn Marie versus Booker and Sharmell next week on Nitro - and if they win, Booker gets a title shot?  Booker is reluctant, but Sharmell says, "Its on!".  O'Haire smiles and Booker looks at Sharmell. "Yeah, its on sucka!  Get ready to go down!, Booker says as he and Sharmell walk off..

We go back outside and as the camera scans the crowd, we see a figure dressed in black up in the rafters. Zbyszko and Schiavone speculate again that it must be Sting and wonder what he's doing here.  The camera moves again to that spot and the figure is gone..

Here comes Jeff Hardy and "Your New Addiction" Krazy K to the ring.  They get the mic.  Jeff acknowledges Adam Copeland and Amy Dumas at ringside with a comment, "Boy, they'll let anyone in this place, won't they?".... And then he moves on to talk about the Cruiserweight Championship.  Jeff was the champ until he was beaten by Juvi.. but Juvi doesn't seem to anxious to give a rematch.  He'd rather party with Ivory. That's OK - Jeff says he'll get a rematch eventually and when he does, he'll get the title back.  Until then though, Jeff wants to go back to what brought him to the dance - he misses tag tam wrestling.  Since his former partner isn't available - "You remember my former partner, my brother - don't you Adam?  Amy?", he remarks to the two at ringside.. "He still has a job while you two were kicked out on your lying, cheating asses.." - Hardy continues, "Since Matt isn't available, why not team with a man he's always been a mark for - a K-Mark..." Kirby gets the mic - he's known Jeff most of his life and competed with him and against him and there is no doubt that if he and Jeff stay a team, they'll soon be the tag team champions.  So now Jeff and Krazy K are a team and are looking for gold in their futures.

Music hits and here comes "Above Average" Mike Sanders out to the rampway, followed by Rob Conway and Rene Dupree. Sanders wants to know why K-Mark and Hardy think they're so tough.  He's got Conway and Dupree right here and they are former tag team champions.  If anyone should be getting a shot at the titles, it's them.  Hardy answers with a "Just bring it!" gesture and Mike leads the former La Resistance down to the ring as referee Hage Patel quickly runs out to the ring.  We have a match.

Penzer makes the introductions..

JEFF HARDY & "KRAZY K" KIRBY MACK
versus ROB CONWAY & RENE DUPREE w/ Mike Sanders..

Awesome match that sees Hardy and Kirby contrlling most of the action with quick tags and lots of double-teaming.  Conway manages to avoid a dropkick by Kirby and crushes the smaller wrestler with a backbreaker.  Tag to Dupree and the former WWF Tag Team Champions take over with some clubbing blows and double-teaming in their corner.  Mack fights back with elbows and ducks a Dupree clothesline to hot-tag Hardy.  Hardy opens up on both former opponents and sends Conway to the floor.  Hardy to the outside and he runs along the fan barrier in a signature move to nail Conway, but as he runs on the barrier by Amy and Adam, Adam's hand "accidently" trips Hardy and he crashes and burns to the floor.  Krazy K is distracted by this and goes to the floor to confront Copeland and Dumas.  Conway nails him from behind and puts Mack into the steel ringpost.  Conway rolls Hardy back into the ring where Dupree connects with a neckbreaker to get the pin.
Winners:  RENE DUPREE & ROB CONWAY w/ Mike Sanders

We go backstage and Christy Hemme, Shawn Stasiak and Chris Chetti are standing by with Terri Runnels. Hemme talks about her match against the WCW Women's Champion, Ivory that's coming up next.  Ivory thinks she has an easy night ahead of her, but she'd better be ready for a fight because Hemme is ready for anything - she's planning on becoming the WCW Womens Champion.  Terri cautions Hemme to be careful - since she's been hanging with Juvi, Ivory has turned into a real bitch as of late.  Hemme says that it's OK - she can be a bitch with the best of them...and look who she's hanging with - Chetti and Stasiak - the next WCW World Tag Team Champions.  Chetti says that teaming up with Shawn and Hemme was the best thing to ever happen to him.  He went from being stuck on WCW Saturday Night to the main event of Nitro and now a shot at the tag titles.  Chetti mentions his ECW background and says that he and Stasiak are going to make things extreme for Morrus and Abbott..  Stasiak just flexes and says that Morrus & Abbott have been champs for too long - it's time for the next generation - the sexy generation - "Hot Stuff" to take over..

Back to Penzer for the next match...

WCW WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
IVORY (c) versus CHRISTY HEMME

Hemme is a ball of fire as she immediately attacks Ivory at the bell with a Thesz press and several punches.  Ivory just shrugs her off and connects with a knee and then a neckbreaker.  It's all Ivory as she plays with Hemme for a few minutes before nailing the bulldog to get the pin.
Winner and still champion:  IVORY

We go backstage now and see Soce leaving the dressing room, calling back inside for Morrus and Abbott to finish getting ready.  Soce's geting a cup of coffee.  As Soce closes the door, he runs into Mike Youngblood.  Soce is speechless as Youngblood says hello..  There is an awkward silence as they kind of look at each other.  Daniel Puder walks up and wants to know if Youngblood is bothering Soce?  Soce says, "No, it's OK".. Puder gets between Youngblood and Soce and tells Mike to "walk away while you still can!"  Youngblood just says, "See ya!" and walks off as Soce watches him leave.

We come back and "The Chosen One" Jeff Jarrett and "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner are in the ring.  Jarrett is bragging about how they "ended the legacy of the Horsemen" last night at Beach Blast.  Jarrett and Steiner proved once and for all they are better and tougher and more dangerous.  The Horsemen are finished! Here comes Tully Blancard and Woman out on to the rampway.  Jarrett hasn't ended anything.  If anything, he's just thrown gasoline on a fire that can't be put out.  Jarrett's team won in the cage last night, but that's just the beginning.  Tully has taken it upon himself to ensure that Jarrett and Steiner's days are numbered.  Jarrett reminds Tully that the other Horsemen told him to do it on his own.. Tully says that the other guys are young and learning - and every so often, they need someone to set an example.  He's a Horseman, one of the original, and he's never alone... "The Total Package" Lex Luger walks out on the rampway and stands next to Tully.  Jarrett laughs and says "Is this is?  Is that supposed to scare us?"  Woman says, "It should!" and challenges Jarrett and Steiner to face Lex & Tully on Thunder this Thursday.  Steiner accepts the challenge for his partner and him and says that on Thunder, Tully and Lex will finally be destroyed like the whiney little punks they are.... Lex and Tully smile as they say, "See you on Thunder" and walk backstage while Jarrett and Steiner remain in the ring.

We go backstage and see Soce leading Hugh Morrus and Tank Abbott to the ring.  The WCW Tag Team Title match is up next....

WCW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
TANK ABBOTT & HUGH MORRUS w/ soce the elemental wizard
versus
CHRIS CHETTI & SHAWN STASIAK w/ Christy Hemme

Hemme is moving slowly after the beating that she took earlier from Ivory and Schiavone and Zbyszko speculate if she should even be at ringside.  The match begins and Chetti & Stasiak take the early advantage with their speed, but a powerslam by Morrus from out of nowhere seems to take the wind right out of their sales.  About mid-way through the match, we see the new WCW World Television Champion, Rico and Daniel Puder make their way down to join Soce at ringside.  In the ring, Stasiak seems to have found a second wind and is leveling Abbott with punches and kicks.  Morrus breaks it up with a forearm to the back of Stasiak's head and Abbott delivers a big powerslam.  Tag to Morrus who does "No Laughing Matter" and connects.  Referee Tommy Young makes the three count.
Winners and still champions: HUGH MORRUS & TANK ABBOTT

Soce, Puder and Rico join the men in the ring to celebrate the win as we hear Schiavone calling from ringside that they're out of time!  Be sure to watch WCW Thunder on Thursday night! Take care.....

THE END!
