WCW Thunder - July 13, 2006

WCW Thunder
July 13, 2006
Houston, TX
Compaq Center

The sounds of AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" fills the arena and the pyro explodes as WCW Thunder comes on the air.  We go to the center of the ring where Ring Announcer Gary Michael Capetta is in the ring....  Cappetta welcomes the fans to the return of WCW Thunder.....  And now, here are the announcers for the return of professional wrestling and WCW to prime-time on Thursday nights.....  The WCW Thunder Announce Team --- Scott Hudson and "The Baddest Man In Pro Wrestling" Brian Adams...

Hudson and Adams welcome us to the show and talk about how great it is to be back on Thursday nights and the debut edition of the return of WCW Thunder..  It's a big show with a big main event as two of the legends of professional wrestling, two of the "Horsemen", Tully Blancard & "The Total Package" Lex Luger w/ Woman take on "The Chosen One" Jeff Jarrett & "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner... plus another Horseman, Charlie Haas will be taking on "The Bad Guy" Scott Hall.  It's a big show and it's time to go to the ring...

We go to Gary Michael Cappetta for the first match..

COLT CABANA & LODI versus VAMPIRO & ETHAN STORM

Adams remarks that this is the first time that Storm & Vampiro have teamed together and they should be an effective, if not unusual team.  But seeing Colt & Lodi still as partners is unusual too.  Great, fast paced match to start the show as neither team is able to maintain any long advantage and we see several two counts for both teams.  In the end, Storm takes a swing at Cabana with his loaded fist, but Colt ducks and Ethan gets slammed by a "Sweet & Sour" doubleteam by Lodi and & Colt.  Colt scores on Vampiro with a spear as Lodi covers Storm to get the win.
Winners:  COLT CABANA & LODI

We go backstage and see a slew of young women in bikini's walking into an office. Here is WCW Owner Eric Bischoff and his new "son" Nick Hogan.  Eric compliments his "son" on the idea of bringing back the Nitro Girls and having open auditions.  Nick says that the Nitro Girls were hot and sex sells...  And if his "dad" doesn't mind, he'd like to personally interview each new prospect.  Eric smiles, but reminds Nick that he's only 16 and a minor, so Eric can't allow Nick to be alone and unsupervised with so many gorgeous women who will do anything for a chance to be a part of WCW.  So Eric will stay there and help Nick "interview" the girls.  Nick and Eric share a laugh and go into the office to interview the prospective "Nitro Girls"....

A video promo airs - coming on August 6th from the Bike Rally in Sturgis, SD... it's WCW Road Wild, exclusively on PPV.....

We come back and see Adam Copeland and Amy Dumas again making their way through the audience and to two front row seats at ringside.  Both are still laughing and smiling and holding hands as they take their seats to watch the show.

Clark and Hudson speculate as what the deal is with Edge and Dumas - have they signed with WCW or are they just WCW Groupies who have been attending all of the WCW Events?   They then talk about Luna Vachon and Sable - at the "Beach Blast PPV", Luna destroyed Sable in a Diva Street Fight.. We now go to a video interview with Bob Caudle talking to Sable..

In the interview, Sable talks about the beating she suffered at the hands of Luna at the PPV - and says that she underestimated Luna.  But Sable quickly claims that she only lost because Luna is not a sane person - she's an animal.  Sable says that the doctor has cleared her to get back in the ring and she wants revenge... and challenges Luna to another match - a "Diva Lumberjack Match" for the next edition of Nitro.  And if Luna accepts, Sable vows to wipe the mat with her once and for all...

We come back and Adams talks about how Sable might be putting her foot in her mouth.  Luna lives up to her name and Sable should quit while she's still able.  Hudson mentions that Luna is standing by backstage and she has a response ready.

We go backstage where Luna is sitting and rocking back and forth - she says that the PPV Beach Blast was so much fun, she'll be glad to wrestle Sable again... it doesnt matter what kind of match.  Luna will beat her again and again and again.  Luna starts flipping out for a moment and then says that the PPV was perfect.. except for her vampire was hurt by Brock.  But Gangrel will be back and he'll get his revenge on Brock Lesnar.  Luna and Brock always have the last laugh!  Then Luna starts laughing and laughing uncontrollably like a crazy woman and stares straight into the camea and says "Sable's blood will be on my hands... and I'm going to love it...." Luna keeps laughing as we cut to...

WCW Women's Champion Ivory and Juventud Guerrera are backstage watching a moniter and the Luna segment.  Ivory remarks to Juvi just how "damn crazy Luna has become"... Juvi agrees.  Here is Buff Bagwell and April Hunter.  They walk up and April tells Ivory that she needs to worry about other things than Luna and her sanity... like when is April going to get another shot at the Women's Title?  Ivory tells April that "I've already beaten you several times - you want another shot, earn it!".. Buff makes a suggestion - how about a match next week on Thunder - it's Buff & April versus Juvi and Ivory and if April & Buff win, then April gets a title shot.  Juvi and Ivory laugh and agree - they can always use another easy night at the office - Buff and April look very serious as they say "See you next week" and walk off...

Back to Gary Michael Cappetta for the next match..

BARRY WINDHAM versus MICHAEL YOUNGBLOOD

As Windham & Youngblood lock up, we see manager/rapper Soce come out from the back and stand at the rampway, watching the match.  Youngblood and Windham are trading chops and fists.  Youngblood seems to have the advantage with a suplex and then goes up top to attempt the big elbow. He takes too long and Windham greets him with a dropkick as he leaves the top rope.  Barry with the bulldog and the pin.
Winner:  BARRY WINDHAM

We cut to the ramp area where Soce has a concerned look on his face as the referee checks on Youngblood to make sure he's OK.  Windham is celebrating his victory in the ring.  Soce turns and goes back behind the curtain.

Backstage again as we see Eric Bischoff and Nick Hogan "interviewing" the prospective Nitro girls..... Brock Lesnar walks into the picture and interupts.  He wants to know if Eric saw what he did to Gangrel at the PPV?  Eric saw the destruction and compliments Brock on a job well done...  Brock says that now that he's through with the warm-ups, he's ready for a shot at the World Championship and Sean O'Haire.  Eric mentions that Brock already had a chance against O'Haire and lost a few weeks ago.  Brock bows up at this and grabs Eric... he wants a title shot now!  Eric is angry now too and reminds Brock that he'd better back off now or he'll be having to go to New York to beg for a job....  Hogan jumps in and informs Brock that Gangrel will be back next week and looking for revenge.  Brock laughs and says Gangrel is just a punk with delusions of greatness.  Eric chimes in that he can think of a lot of other people that sounds like as well.  Brock glares at Eric.  Eric continues, "If Brock wants a title shot, then fine... All he has to do is defeat "The Giant" Paul Wight.... tonight."  Brock says if that's what he has to do, then he'll do it... Eric tells Brock he'd better go get ready because that's the next match... and if The Giant wins, Brock will never get another shot at the WCW Championship... Eric tells Brock to leave so he and Nick can get back to the wanna-be Nitro girls... Brock leaves as Eric and Nick turn their attention back to the bikini clad women.

We go to the ring and in the ring are rapper/manager Soce the Elemental Wizard, the WCW World Tag Team Champions, Hugh Morrus & Tank Abbott, the WCW World Television Champion, Rico and the always dangerous Daniel Puder...  Soce talks about how Team Elementalz controls all the gold in WCW and is quickly becoming the most dominant force in WCW.  The only titles they don't control are the World Championship and the Cruiserweight title.  Soce says that he would go after the CW title himself, but he's not a wrestler and Juvi seems like a nice guy anyhow.  So that's not in the plans for now.  As for the World Championship, Sean O'Haire had better watch his back because that title makes him a target for the "World's Most Dangerous Man" Daniel Puder.  Puder gets on the mic.  He feels like the odd man out in this group - Rico has the TV title, Hugh & Tank are tag champs, Soce has all those gold records and trophies for his music.  Soce quickly interjects a quick plug for his website, where you can buy his CD's at http://www.greathiphop.com/.  Puder laughs at Soce's quick plug of his merchandise and reminds everyone that he has sweatshirts available that say "I Hurt Kurt - He Whined" available through his MySpace page.  Soce says that the shirts that say,  "I Hurt Goldberg - Who's Next" are at the designers right now and will be available as a store soon near you.  Rico interjects that if Puder & Soce are done with their impulsive crass commercialism, they still have business to take care of.  Soce laughs and gets back on the mic.  He has an open challenge for all of the wrestlers in the back.  If they think they have what it takes to step in the ring with Team Elementalz, just bring it on.

Music hits and here comes Barry Windham out to the ring apron.  He compliments Team Elementalz on their success and says that he understands all about the group-mentality and how insturmental it can be to making and retaining championships.  Barry mentions that Rico won the TV title by beating Evan Karagias and wonders if Rico would have been as successful if he had faced Windham in the tournament finals?  Rico assures Barry that he would have beaten him too... just like that.  Barry smiles and says that he wants to challenge Rico for the TV title - next week on Nitro.  Rico accepts and says that he'll send Barry running back to Texas when he's done with him.

More music hits and "Above Average" Mike Sanders, Rene Dupree & Rob Conway walk out on the stage.  Sanders tells Windham to step back - this doesn't concern him.  They heard Team Elementalz brag about how unstoppable and tough they are..  Sanders mentions that Conway & Dupree are former tag team champions and want a crack at Morrus & Abbott and the WCW World Tag Team Titles.  Soce calls Dupree & Conway "two curtain jerker punks" and says that they'll have to prove themselves before they get a shot at Morrus & Abbott.  Tank gets the mic and comments on Dupree using the "French Tickler" and calls him a sick peverted freak.  Conway tells Abbott to look at the company he's in - how can he talk about anyone else?  Words are exchanged and finally, Morrus gets the mic.  If they want a match, fine!  Next week on Thunder.. it'll be Abbott and Morrus versus Dupree and Conway.. in a non-title match.  If the French Fries can show the champions something, then maybe they'll be in line for a title shot someday day.  Sanders says that La Resistance will show Morrus & Abbott the lights as they pin them one - two - three.  And it's just a matter of time before the tag team titles belong to Conway & Dupree - La Resistance.  La Rsistance & Conway head to the back while Team Elementalz remains in the ring as we go to commercial.

We go to Gary Michael Cappetta for the next match...

BROCK LESNAR versus "THE GIANT" PAUL WIGHT w/ Joel Gertner

Brock takes the early advantage by going after the leg of the Giant and attempting to cut him down to size.  A distraction by Gertner and Giant nails Brock with several headbutts.  A big slam and Giant goes for a legdrop, but misses.  Brock is back up and pounds away at the Giant.  Slam and Brock goes for the F-5, but Gertner is back up again on the apron.  Brock drops Giant and goes after Gertner, chasing him around the ring and finally catching him by the shirt collar.  As Gertner screams, The Giant comes from behind and flattens Brock with a big squash against the ropes.  Another headbutt by The Giant and a big chokeslam.  Giant covers and gets the pin.
Winner:  "THE GIANT" PAUL WIGHT w/ Joel Gertner

We come back and Eric Bischoff and Nick are still "interviewing" prospective Nitro Girls..  Here is Booker T & Sharmell walking into the picture.  Booker wants to complain about tonight.  Why is he scheduled to wrestle against Kanyon?  Booker thinks he should be wrestling for titles and not against punks.  Eric reminds Booker that way back on the night he won his first ever WCW Championship - remember that? - that he was pinned by Kanyon earlier in the night.  Eric just thought that Booker might like to get a little payback. Booker remembers and says that he'll beat that sucka within an inch of his life.  Booker starts to walk off and Eric says, "have fun"... Sharmell tells Eric that he might be able to play Booker, but he's not fooling her.  Eric made promises to Booker and he'd better come through.. or else. Sharmell then looks around at the prospective Nitro girls  and reminds Eric that she used to be one of the original Nitro Girls.. and remarks that "these ho's are nothing but street trash!".. Eric and Nick look at each other and remark, "We know!"... smiling as Sharmell walks off..

We go back to ringside where Adam Copeland and Amy Dumas are still seated in the crowd and we get a good shot of them trading spit for the camera.

We go backstage and see Scott Hall warming up..  His match against Charlie Haas is next....

Down to the ring and Gary Michael Cappetta....

SCOTT HALL versus CHARLIE HAAS w/ Dawn Marie

Haas & Hall put on a wrestling clinic as Scott proves that he can match Haas move for move in the ring.  You can see Haas getting frustrated as he argues with the referee and bails to the floor.  Hall follows Haas to the floor and catches him with several chops and fists.  Dawn Marie comes from behind and grabs Scott, clawing at the eyes.  As Scott grabs his eyes, Haas comes up and rams Hall into the ringpost.  The referee is counting and Charlie slides in the ring just as the referee's count reaches 10.  Hall tries to get into the ring, but Dawn Marie is there again and grabs him from behind, preventing Scott from making it into the ring in time.Hall is counted out and Haas gets the win.
Winner by count-out!:  CHARLIE HAAS w/ Dawn Marie

We go backstage and see the other Horsemen, C.W. Anderson & WCW World Champion Sean O'Haire watching the moniter and cheering as their teammate scores the victory.  Tully Blancard, Woman & Lex Luger walk up.  Tully & Lex are getting ready for their match against Jeff Jarrett and Scott Steiner. O'Haire reminds Tully that he didn't have to go outside the group for a partner - any of the new Horsemen would have teamed with him.  Tully knows that, but says that he's more "old school" and some things just require that "old school" touch.  Lex was the first recruit for the Horsemen back in the days and knows what Tully is talking about.  Sean reminds Tully that the old days are gone and this is here and now - he can't live in the past forever.  Tully agrees with that, but says that some situations just require an old-school mentality and touch.  Tully knows that it's not 1987 anymore, but he's still Tully Blancard and Luger is still "The Total Package" and they'll get the job done and end the annoyance of Jarrett and Steiner once and for all.. O'Haire wishes Tully luck and says that the Horsemen always have his back.  Tully knows that and the entire group,  who are now joined by Charlie Haas & Dawn Marie, all flash the 4 fingers in the air...

We come back and see a video promo for WCW Monday Nitro - the "flagship" of WCW - every Monday night...

We go to Gary Michael Cappetta for the next match...

BOOKER T w/ Sharmell versus KANYON

It's all Booker to begin as he is very aggressive in the ring and goes after the neck and back of Kanyon.  Kanyon takes a beating and fights back with punches and a neckbreaker. Suplex by Kanyon for two. Kayon goes up to the top to atttempt a moonsault, but Sharmell is there and reaches up, grabbing Kanyon's leg and causing him to stumble to the mat. Booker is there with a spin-kick and then the bookend.  Cover and pin and Booker gets the win.
Winner:  BOOKER T

As Booker & Sharmell celebrate in the ring, the cameras scan the audience and we see, at the back of the arena, a figure dressed in black and wearing white face paint and holding a bat.  The figure moves quickly as he realizes the camera has spotted him and vanishes behind a curtain.

We come back and see a replay of the mysterious figure.  Adams says that he spoke earlier in the week with Steve Borden, better known as Sting, and Sting never mentioned coming to WCW or being on Thunder.    We go to Gary Michael Cappetta for the next match... the main event.

JEFF JARRETT & SCOTT STEINER
versus
TULLY BLANCARD & "THE TOTAL PACKAGE" LEX LUGER w/ Woman

Forget about rules, it's just a brawl as Tully and Jarrett start off by trading punches and kicks.  Steiner and Luger are tagged in and it becomes a contest of strength and power moves by two of the World's Strongest Men.  Referee Tommy Young is having a time keeping control of the action.  Lex gets tossed to the floor.  We see Steiner "accidently" bump the ref and he goes down as well.  Jarrett has the guitar in the ring and instructs Steiner to hold Tully.  As Jarrett rears back with the guitar, Woman is in the ring and grabs the guitar before Jeff can swing.  He turns around and threatens Woman with the guitar again.  Luger is back in the ring and nails Jeff with a flying forearm.  Meanwhile, Tully has slipped out of Steiner's grasp and drops down, nailing Scott with a low blow.  As Steiner drops, Tully picks up the guitar that Jeff has dropped and picks it up.  Tully nails Steiner with the guitar.  Tully kicks the debris from the shattered guitar from the ring, and covers Scott.  The ref has pulled himself back up and crawls into position to make the three count.
Winners:  TULLY & LEX w/ Woman

As the Horsemen celebrate in the ring, Hudson and Adams remind us to watch WCW Monday Nitro on Monday and be back here next week for another edition of WCW Thunder.

The sounds of AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" again fill the arena as we fade to black...

THE END...
